Firemonger

Firemonger is not currently being maintained. The latest version was released in December 2006. Please do not distribute Firemonger - the software and information is outdated.

Project Status

March 12th - Zaffo

The last 'news' item is posted almost one year ago and the latest Firemonger release, 2.0.0.1, is from December 2006. Since it's release it has been downloaded over 7 thousand times from SourceForge.net and our server.

But with a 15 months old release, no signs of an upcoming release and a busy group of volunteers, the project isn't in it's glory days anymore. Although it is invisible for the outside world, there still is activity on the forums. The biggest question is: "Is there still need for Firemonger?" Firefox can't be ignored nowadays. With a market share of over 20% worldwide and almost 50% in some countries. Firefox changed the world. :P Mainly thanks to the effort of many volunteers. But we already knew that.

Firemonger isn't all about Firefox, there also is it's sister Thunderbird with less users. And a lot of other free and open source software. An other CD project, the OpenCD project to be exact, is no longer under development. Just like this project, only some of us can't accept that.

What do you think? Is there still need for promo CD's. Do you want to help us continue the project. Or is your name Ballmer and do you like to dance? Please let us know via the Forums (you have to register because of spam problems) or at SpreadFirefox!

New website launched

March 28th - Nomad (original by Nathaniel)

Our new website is now live and will hopefully become a great resource for the project, which is now going through exciting times with a new website, new server, SVN development and translations being released.

Firemonger 2.0.0.1 released

December 27th - Nathaniel & Vekron

Firemonger 2.0.0.1 has now been released, containing Firefox 2.0.0.1 and Thunderbird 1.5.0.9. This version features a number of text enhancements, including changes to the guides, so that they reflect the features of Firefox 2.0. Unfortunately, due to legal reasons, we are no longer including Firetune in Firemonger.

A small addition to Nathaniel's post: Firemonger 2.0.0.1 uses Firefox 2.0 as a base due to launch issues with the newer version as a base. Because of this, Firemonger may display a message at launch time, claiming Firefox is already running. (This will probably happen to you if Firefox is already installed.) Clicking 'Yes' should allow you to proceed using the program. No other issues should be present. If you think you can help us with this problem, please stop by the forums - we are in need of help in all areas!

Where is Firemonger 2.0?

December 7th - Nathaniel

Firemonger is still an active project and will continue to be developed. Unfortunately, over the last couple of months, it seems all the Firemonger team have been extremely busy, denying Firemonger of the level of development it deserves. However, Firemonger 2.0 is in the pipeline and will be released before Christmas. We also have many translations completed; expect to see Firemonger in Dutch, German, Polish, Greek and Catalan in the new year.

Firemonger 1.5.0.6 released

August 16th - Nathaniel

This version contains Firefox 1.5.0.6 and Thunderbird 1.5.0.5. The observant amoungst you may notice that there was no Firemonger 1.5.0.5 - this was because Mozilla released Firefox 1.5.0.6 within 48 hours of 1.5.0.5, to address a problem with playing Windows Media Player content. Firemonger 1.5.0.6 contains numerous text enhancements and we have now replaced BackupFox with MozBackup, an actively developed utility that has many great features.

Firemonger 1.5.0.4 released

June 4th - Nathaniel

This is an incremental update, to keep pace with Mozilla's release cycle. It contains Firefox 1.5.0.4 and Thunderbird 1.5.0.4, along with updated themes, extensions, plugins and utilities.
